I like the new 327 Federal Magnum.I have been loading my 32 H&R mags to about this level in my Single six pistols and my Dan Wesson 32 mags.I am even thinking about rechambering one of my Dan Wessons to the 327 Mag.It will shoot 327 mags,32 H&R ,32 long and 32 shorts.I love the fast 32 mags. Its a fast little round.I hope Marlin Chambers it in their leveraction.

I like to bump this back up to the top and ask if anyone has converted their Ruger single six to 32 Federal? What does it take?

You can't be serious!! Why that's the most unethical thing I've heard of since I posted about shooting one with a .38 Special. Now we're gonna have to allow excessive time for the hand-ringers. If ignorance is bliss; there are some blissful sonofaguns around here. We know who you are, so no reason to point yourselves out.

Yep, that .327 makes the .38 special look like a big bore..... "Ignorance you can correct, you can't fix stupid." JWP If stupidity hurt, a lot of people would be walking around screaming. Semper Fidelis "Building Carpal Tunnel one round at a time"

I'm sure that the .327 will kill a deer fine, but why use an underload to do it? Maximum W231 loads give 1218 fps under a cast 115 - I can get that in my own SP-101 .32 H&R with an appropriate powder. A much more powerful load is AA-7 which produces 1418 fps under the same weight bullet. With the W231 load you might as well use a hot-loaded .32 H&R. But maybe there's nothing wrong with that..... .

Thanks just-a. I wish I could find this. It will be interesting to hear what Ruger has to say. I might get a surprise and they offer to bore the cylinder for me! My gun is blue with a 6 1/2 barrel its a looks and carries a bit awkward. I was thinking I might get it cut back to 5 1/2. Given the high velocity performance is the reason for the 32mag, would I loose much with factory loads? If Ruger offered the single six with stainless and 5 1/2 bbl in 32, I would just buy one and be happy. and keep the old blue 6 1/2 with the longer bbl for around the house (still like to ream out the cylinders if thats all it took). Thats another question for Ruger.

I have an amigo that is shooting 115 gr SWC's at 1500 fps from his 327? I have easily killed smaller (<150#) hogs with my 32 H&R and the 115 gr SWC. Just a touch below the ear...

Be careful Boxhead, the "too small to be effective' crowd may get after you for such remarks. If ignorance is bliss; there are some blissful sonofaguns around here. We know who you are, so no reason to point yourselves out.

Actually my ruger single six in 32 H&R is fun to shoot.I carry it on my trap line to dispatch critters.I would like to get it bored to 327 if it is possible!!!

LOL! I remember how we got assaulted for even suggesting that a properly loaded .38 special or .357 Mag could be effective on deer...... "Ignorance you can correct, you can't fix stupid." Well I would not use one on big game as a primary weapon.Works good to dispatch a downed animal that is not going anywhere.

This is probably a dumb question, but what job were the 327 and for that matter the H&R 32 invented as alternatives for? If trap line use, finishing cripples, working gun for the farm, woods self defense or plinking are reasons, what's wrong with 22lr, 22 Mag, SW 32, 380, 9 mil, and 38? I used to think 22 Mag in an SW Model 48 or Auto Mag II was about perfect for these jobs. Some of those at least have the greater mag capacity, being meant for bottom feeding guns.

For sport I was using 44mag and 22LR/Mag in Rugers. So; I got to thinking if I am carrying a single six, why not try a 32 instead of a 22. I got a 32H&R and loved it. Except I got a longer bbl, mistake there. Accurate, light, fun. I still have my 22 Ruger, so it was not replaced. I dont shoot enough to sweat the ammo cost and the extra power is great on porcupine or other medium size targets. The new Federal ammo, should bring the 32 factory loads up another notch. You say why not use a 22mag. I say why not carry a 32mag? Same size gun. Did I mention fun Later on I got a Ladysmith in 32 and sold my 38. I guess my 32 replaced my 38. But defense is another subject. I found the best defense is to stay out of trouble. These big 32's will fire the old 32S&W long or short, if you want. Dont say I would, but since you mention the old 32.

I can load a 32H&R cheaper with cast boolits than I can buy 22mag in the same size Revolver..115 gr.boolit verses 40 or 50 gr..Don`t see many criminals that I need self defense from snowshoeing in 3 feet of snow & bears are hibernating.I just plain like a 32 H&R.
