Well, I've been waiting for a month or two now to be able to get my hands on some of these for my 500 S&W. Finally on a trip to Cabela's yesterday, they had two boxes. I loaded up 3 sets with the 3 powders I had available (with the exception of H-110 because it's dirty as hell in my 500). The 3 powders I DID try were AA9, Lil'gun, and H-4227. Of the 3, even though I didn't run them over the chrono yet the load with Lil'gun appears to be the best. It shoots to almost the same point of aim at 100 yards as my 350 gr. Sierra load. The Lil'gun load also was the "least well behaved' for lack of a better explanation. I was able to discern a distinct difference when firing that load vs. the other two. I wasn't taking as much time as I would have liked but with the 2-7x Burris I was still able to put all of the Lil'gun rounds in a 3" cluster @ 100. I'm sure the gun will do better but that's about as good as I can do in a hurry, and certainly as good as I need to do. BTW, for the heavy hard-cast crowd, yes I know there are some excellent choices on the heavy end of the range for the 500. I just wanted to see how the gun performed with the FTX's, plus in Texas (or darn near anywhere else in North America) they'll handle anything I might use them on. I'll try some 370's and 440's next I suppose.

Hey I wasn't going to say anything..... Should work well. Looks like your preliminary testing looks very promising! "Ignorance you can correct, you can't fix stupid." I like H 110 for most of my 500 Mag loads, as well as Lil'gun. I prefer the 370 and 440 gr. hard cast bullets also. Good luck with you loads, and have fun putting 50 cal holes in things.. If you're going to make a hole, make it a big one. ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ Member of the Delaware Destroyers Member Reeders Misfits NRA Life Member ENDOWMENT MEMBER NAHC Life Member DSA Life Member

I should be noted that the first bullet I seated got very very "smushed". That is the seater plug was just too darned flat for the FTX bullets. Problem is it was the better of the two that came with the die. I went and pulled the spitzer seater plug out of my 416 Rigby dies and dropped that in, no problems after that. Just something to think about for anyone that might be looking at loading some of the FTX's. If you're not lucky enought to have a large caliber spitzer seater plug, you'll want to order one before you load.
