The 25-20 is approved for use in the "Field Pistol" competition. Targets are 1/2 scale at 25 (C), 50 (P), 75 (T), and 100 (R) yards. They are regularly knocked over by the 22 Hornet, so the 25-20 will also do well. Nothing would prevent you from using it in the big bore game, but you probably wouldn't knock over many targets.

Field Pistol is divided into two categories: "Production" for iron sighted guns and "Any Sight" for scoped guns. Many shooters use a "taco" hold and rifle scopes. Personally, I prefer to shoot the Production catergory, but that is just personal preference. To shoot with the top shooters in either category, your scores will have to be 30+ out of 40. Not an impossible score to obtain, but not as easy as it looks.

Give it a try. It is great practice and you will meet a good bunch of guys.
