Morning Gentlemen,

John Linebaugh stopped by my home the other day on his way through Cheyenne. Lo and behold he had a Bisley conversion for me!

What a work of firearms art it is. This project has been in works for several years. When I gave him 3 Bisleys and started sending $$ his way, I told him to take his time, select the straightest and best of the .357, .44 and .45 I sent along and I was in no hurry for completion.

Along the way I ordered brass and bullets and an El Paso Saddlery Tom Threepersons holster and cartridge belt, full floral carved.

The Linebaugh has the Bowen Rough Country adjustable rear sight. It is adjustable for windage and elevation, then locks down like a fixed sight to hold the sight setting. Great innovation. John added a gold vertical line in the front sight. It works great for my older (and bifocaled) eyes.

No, I haven't shot it yet, but it will be with Montana Bullet Works 400 grain LFNGC and either Trail Boss for the light loads or LIL' GUN for the higher velocity stuff.

For you guys that already have a .500 Linebaugh, do you like H-110/WW-296 or has anyone tried LIL' GUN in a .500 Linebaugh?

From the reloading manuals I've read, LIL' Gun seems to reach the same velocity as H-110/WW-296 with less powder at the same pressure

very nice. Id stick with powders like 2400 and 4227 for any kind of reduced loads and for full power 110/296 or 4227. I wont use lil gun in a revolver anymore due the the fact it errodes forcing cones faster then about any other powder. To be honest i didnt have the greatest luck with it in the 500 anyway. It did much better in the 454 and 475.

Thanks Lloyd. I value your experience in loading the big stuff.
I also have a FA .454. Use WW296 in it.
I got the LIL'Gun for the .500 after perusing the loading manuals. I thought it must be more efficent for the same velocity at the same pressure with less powder. Didn't know about forcing cone erosion issues...

LilGun looks good on paper; the batch I tested was disappointing to say the least. I stick with HS-6 for reduced loads and 296/110 for the full power stuff. Nice looking revolver.

WW296/H-110 and HS-6: that's what John Linebaugh recommends as well.

That's why I use those powders. Considering he built it, that's good enough to accept his recommendation.

I get great results using TiteGroup in my reduced loads. As usual, very nice piece.

Any of you guys have grips by Dustin Linebaugh.

Whitworth how about the grips you posted on the saddle. WHat are they? Lots of figure there....

I have a couple of sets Dustin made. They are the best feeling grip panels I have on a revolver.

i have grips made by dustin on 5 of my guns. They arent cheap and you can sometimes get prettier wood at the same price or even less elsewhere but NOWHERE will you buy a set of grips that fit any better, feel any better in the hand and handle recoil any better. They should be a mandatory option on 475s and 500s.
