I have not shot the 40 Shotshells, but I haveshot the 9mm and the 45 ACP.The 9mm ran in a Glock 17 just fine.

The 45 ACP has worked in some 1911's 100%, in others @ 85%.

You will just have to try them in your gun. I can say that they are all very effective on snakes, inluding the 22LR and the 22 Mag, and the 45 ACP 45 Colt, and 44 Mag work very well on small game and birds.

Many times when shooting a semiauto function problems can be due to limp wristing the semiauto.
This is common when revolver shooters first go to a semiauto.m Back when my Dept went to 9mm semiautos after several years of mandatory use of the revolver, a LOT of guys had functioning problems with Glock 19's. I could shoot 50 rounds through their Glock 19's with 100% reliability, and they could not get hrough a single magazine without several malfunctions.

The key was not to break your wrist and keep the last three fingers on your hand gripping tight, just like if you were going to punch somebodywith your fist.
All semiautos can be subject to "limp wristing".
When you limp wrist a semiauto your hand/arm is asorbing some of the energy needed to work the gun. The early Glocks were set up for European 9mm ammo and this problem was increased with the USA weaker 9mm ammo.

This is one reason that there are different poundage springs offered for many semiautos.
In the 1911 you can get recoil springs from 10lbs to 24lbs, depending on the calibre and power level of the ammo you intend to shoot and the, "hold" if the individual shooter. Shoes, pants, and shirts come in different sizes as do recoil springs...

My Springfield EMP 40 will run any kind of ammo without problems, except the snake shot load. No limp wristing involved. My Springfield 45 will cycle on snake loads.
