I.know it's not a pistol but it's my Ruger pc4 carbine .I wish I.had bought three of these when they were $400 .I finally got my dillion. 550 fixed they replaced it and I broke in finally .I wanted to try hotter loads wiry hornady 200-grain hornady xtp bullets with 800 x powder .I went by the Lee reloading book 8.1 max for pistols which gets these 1200 fps out of my carbine .I got them above that with small rifle primers up to 1350 fps lots of power from such a small case .That Ruger is super strong .Now I.have to get some dillion 40s&w,dies my.Lee dies suck seating bullets and fitting right .I got the load I want down pat but I need them to be sized better .Has anyone tried these bullets for deer .I think it's a 10 mm equal load coming out of 16 inch.barrel .They are super accurate too I cut a clover leaf at 50 yards .If you ever see one of these carbines reasonable but it quick .They are Still high only 12000 made in both calibers .Mine is old police gun that they traded back to Ruger unfired .I.can't believe how accurate it is .I.wish they had mAde it in 10 mm that would be awesome! I was surprised this shotgun powder did so good .You have to use rifle primers it will blow pistol primers .I even squished and loaded some 200-grain Sst hornady muzzleloader bullets in.It .They blew water hugs to pieces .I want a 10 mm carbine bad this may be as close as I get ! These will tear a high point carbine to pieces don't try it .That Beretta and h&k model 94 can handle them too that's it .Dang this was too much fun so signs of pressure ejected fine I.just need dillion dies ! Lee were only only ones I could find in last antigen years !-
The only problem and it could be a big one is that some of your carbine loads end up in a pistol.
I had a friend load up some 357 level loads in 38spl cases to use in his 357. He was warned with all assurance he said don't worry they well never be used in a 38spl.
Well guess what a nice 5 screw S@W was taken apart.
Even with the best intent things can happen I really caution about exceeding design specs for the most commonly chambered firearms out there.

These are not pistol loads for sure .I didn't see an ejector Mark or primer flattened .I don't have a 40 s&w pistol yet may not get one .This is a shotgun flake powder so they are compressed loads I am going to have to get 40 s&w dies these Lee ones suck big time seating the billet .It makes the huge bullet dent when seating these loads .I use small rifle primers too make sure the primers don't blow .The Germans used very hot 9mm loads in their Machine guns .I went to the max load on these and my dillion powder measure goes up and down a little so that's as far as I went .The bolt on this gun is built like a tank. They made some special police loads for this thing that were super hot .The problem was with only 12000 made it never took.off.The Ruger pc4 is modeled after the Ruger 10/22 but super heavy mine is almost 7 3/4 pounds add scope mounts and loaded magazine it's almost 9 pounds crazy heavy for a 40 s&w carbine .I.heard of way hotter loads didn't want to go there .A friend tried the same 200 grain xtp load in his Ruger sr40 it about ripped out if his hand.I wanted a quieter than my 338 win mag short range carbine to use in a kinda subdivision but houses are far apart .I am shooting.down from a tree so it's safe too .I was happy to see no unburned powder or pressure marks .I probably won't ever get a 10 mm carbine but this is darn close .I get new dies and a trigger job this thing will be awesome. To have shot three bullets in.The same hole with this at 50 yards is awesome too with a 12 pound mushy trigger .I just wish I had bought the other two I found for $425 each. They made 9-mm in.this too but it's too small to hunt deer with .I shot a bunch of two liter water bottles yesterday with it blew them to pieces .I can't wait to try nosler 200-grain they should be even better ! I have shot 1.5 inch groups at 100 yards with this gun and a crappy Burris 2x7 mini scope that not the best in the world just fits the gun good .Yes I don't want to blow my gun up.or tear it up either !
I was certified as a political e armorer on the ruger carbine the reason that why they are so heavy is they are a blow back the bolt is made to operate with in certain velocity parameters.
They fell like a tank but they really are not that strong pushing the loads like you are is going to batter the receiver a lot.
Good luck but be really careful

They only made 12000 ,Ruger 9mm and 40 s&w pc carbine.Mine was like new .They are accurate as heck .Mine shoots clover leads at 50 ,yards and 1.5 inches or less at 100-yards .The 200 grain.bullets at 1200 fps is same as 10 mm pistol .It's like a big Ruger 1022.They use to.be $400 now about $600-700 .They are heavy for their size but cool as heck and accurate .I am going.to.put a better scope and get trigger job on mine .There are 20 round mags for them .I.have six 11 shot law enforcement only.mags they got one extra shot .It's well built .I.wish they had built 10mm in.it too !
Why not order a Carbine Conversion Unit from MechTech Systems, Inc. for a Glock 20 in 10mm for $400? A lot cheaper than blowing up a 40 Short and Weak handgun or battering a Ruger carbine.
That load is the same load I use in my G20 . The problem with HiSkor 800X is the flakes are sooo big it doesn't meter well. I got light loads then heavy loads.
Phil Shoemaker : "I went to a .30-06 on a fine old Mauser action. That worked successfully for a few years until a wounded, vindictive brown bear taught me that precise bullet placement is not always possible in thick alders, at spitting distances and when time is measured in split seconds. Lucky to come out of that lesson alive, I decided to look for a more suitable rifle."

I.used it in my.dillion 550 did good .I.used small rifle primers to make sure of full ignition .It's a weird powder for sure .I really liked that load when I.looked at the target at 50 yards and saw three bullet holes into one .It has alot of knock down power .I want a Ruger 911 10 mm but we will see if they go down .I.just saw a Ruger pc4 carbine like mine sell for $500 .The bottom.has dropped out of the gun market .I wish h&k mAde a 10mm usp pistol but they won't do it .The ultimate carbine is a model 94 10 mm h&k but very few were imported hopefully some to come .I can't wait to hunt with this little pc4 carbine it's pretty cool needs a trigger job big time !

That is exactly why I stopped using it.
