Quote: Whitworth - You might want to check out the Cast Performance site, & address your questions to their customer service department, as well as this forum: http://www.castperformance.com/?uid=170&page=1648 I'm pretty sure that Buffalo Bore uses their hard cast bullets. Based on a recent conversation w/ a gent named Tony up there, I've got some 405's coming for my 45-70, & am considering some 255's or 300's for my 44 mag.

I have used their 44 mag+P loads in my Ruger Super Redhawk with 9.5" barrel. They clock in @ 1530-1550 fps with 340gr WFNGC bullet. Most powerful currently produced 44 magnum ammo available. ?Very accurate to over 100 yards. Plan to use it bear hunting this fall. I thought about upgrading to the 480 Ruger but these loads exceed the 480 Rugers power and are nearly identical to the 454 loads.

John taffin shot a bison with that same load, complete penetration.Plenty of performance. Before I started casting my own I used 475 Linebaugh loads,480 Ruger 370gr,44 mag. When checked against my chrony they all clocked more than stated on box. Sean

Thanks for the info guys. Still haven't gotten the chance to use them against game, but what I have shot at the range is quite accurate. Hope to try them on something live soon -- a hog perhaps. I used the 44 mag loads on a very large hog. Very accurate recoil was not that bad. All three bullets where recoverd from the hog without any change in shape they are an excellent load. It stopped the big boy at a charge and sat him down. I thing the pic still on here under hogs somewhere.

Tim loads some high quality ammo; and is not timid about tipping a powder can either. I have shot some Buffalo Bore ammo on paper, but not on game. I offered to field test a couple of his loads on my African hunt, but he declined. Oh well. If ignorance is bliss; there are some blissful sonofaguns around here. We know who you are, so no reason to point yourselves out.

I shot a couple of hogs a couple of years ago with factory Speer Gold Dot ammo (325 gr soft points), and never found it to be lacking. Just doesn't quite shoot as flatly as my Casull. Unfortunately I don't reload anymore, nor will I have the opportunity for a while, hence the fact that I have to rely on factory ammo. So is the Buffalo Bore ammo hotter than claimed? Even with 410 grain bullets it's not nearly as abusive as my .454. Is anyone else loading ammo for the .480 yet? "Ignorance you can correct, you can't fix stupid." I have loaded a ton of 480 and 475 Linebaugh ammo. The 480 has a hard push but not near the muzzle blast of the 454 casull. The Buffalo Bore ammo is on or more than claimed velocity. If you still handloaded I would send you some 418 or 425 cast bullets assuming you paid shipping to Croatia Sean

475/480 -- if I still handloaded I would take you up on that offer! Thanks! Do you have a .475 Linebaugh? I assume you do. This is a caliber I would like to own. Just how much hotter is it really than the 480? I see that it is often conservatively loaded, but what is it capable of? Both my Casull and 480 are Ruger SRHs, and I'd like to have Bowen arms build me a 475 on an SRH frame....Don't know if it would significantly pay off. Your thoughts?
