Just got some Lead Bullet Technology WFNPB (wide flat nose plain base) slugs in both 255 gr and 275 grain weights.

So far I've worked up to 22.0 grains of 2400 in a Starline .44 mag case and a cci 300 std primer. Getting 1300 fps and decent accuracy.

Any other recipes out there for the 255 or the 275 grain??

For heavy cast bullet loads in 44 magnum it is very hard to beat H110 or WW296...and before someone jumps in, I know they are the same powder. I use a 300 grain WFNGC 44 bullet over 22 grains of H110, a hot load not recommended to you in your gun unless you worked up to it, but it is deadly accurate out of my revolver out to 125 yards...and is moving fast! If you don't like those powders, I'd try 4227 or just stick with 2400.

I have good sucess with H110 and the Sierra 250 FPJ on large game. I use to use the LBT bullets 320 grain bullets, but found my SW V Comp likes the 250 FPJ better. I don't go heavier than 23.0 grains and the Fed. Gold Medal Match large Mag Pistol Primers in Fed Nickle Cases.

GrayCG, 296 and H110 are not the same. There is just enough difference that one gun will love 296 and hate H110 and another gun will be the reverse. Both are made by WW for almost the same burn rate, but they don't shoot the same so you have to test both.
For Ruger SBH and SRH's 21.5 grs. of 296 and the LBT 320 WLNGC is the most accurate. For the Ruger standard redhawk, use H110. And the most important thing is to use a standard primer, not a magnum. I have shot 1" groups at 75 yds. with this load. I use the same load in the .45 Vaquerro except I use the 335 gr. LBT or the Lee boolit with the large meplat. Dropped a deer in it's tracks at 100 yds offhand with the vaquerro. My eyeballs were as big as saucers after that one. [Eek!]

I use a 328 grain hardcast with 21.5 grains of 296, clocks 1285FPS from a 6.5" barrel - incredible penetration and tight groups [Big Grin] ------------- - - the bronze bullet rounds are Barnes 300 grain solids, shot with 18.0 grains of 296 clocks about 1150FPS - that is a very compressed load as the solid Barnes is much longer than the 328 lead hardcast - standard "nasty creature" loads - KMule
