Another excellent "factory" load for the 44 is the Garrett 310 gr. hammerhead (www.garrettcartridges.com). They are 100 fps faster than the cast cores but don't shoot quite as well in my gun as the cast cores. They are in the 3.5-4" group category at 100. For really big game I think the Garretts would have a slight advantage over the cast cores.

I had to e-mail Randy Garrett about his 330gr Hammerheads because they shot so good out of my 7 1/2" Redhawk topped witha Redfield 2-6X. Put 6 shots inside 4" at 100 yds which is great for me.I know that with the velocity and weight of the Hammerhead penetration will be great. Good hunting, JFS

I've shot them in a 357 (200 grain LBT), as did/does my younger brother (also in a 357). I've had no problems with accuracy. Didn't do any tests, though. I just took it on good faith that the bullets will do fine. ~~~Suluuq
