Yeah I pulled the trigger this afternoon and purchase another gun. I sold my 454 Casull a year or longer back and just recently I had the itch to buy another.

Ended up getting that Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 Mag. Stainless...7.5" Barrel.

I wanted to make a deal on the .41 but it had a lot more wear marks and they wouldn't budge on the price. I ended up getting this one for less then what they had in it which is the sort of deals I like Big Grin

A much smarter move than the .41.....you will have no regrets. If you decide on an optical sight give some thought to the Ultra Dot, or the small C-More....I have a 2x Leupold on mine and will soon be going to the UltraDot. My friend Argentina Just mounted a C-more I sent to him on his Smith 629 and should be reporting on it soon.

The gun is shown in this forum under the holosight thread, page 3.....

For me the advantage of the Ultra Dot is that I already have a Leupold base in place and Leupold rings....

Thanks!

Bill- didn't see a spot where I could mount a scope. I think I will leave it open sight. It has hogue grips on it which feel nice, doesn't look to be very used at all, and I've never owned a single action before so it should be fun.

Ooo! That's nice, Justin! Have you shot it yet? If not, what are you waiting for?

Good choice, Bugle. Been shootin' and reloadin' my SBH 7 1/2" since 1987.Put PakM. grips on it. They finally split a little. Sent email to PacM. about it. They sent me new grips w/ no charge. Luv it. Accurate as hell and loves everything from 44spl type loads to my hot 300gr WFNGC's @ 19+ grns of H110. I don't know exactly how many rounds I have put thru her, but she just keeps on truckin'. Gonna get me a stainless 4 3/4" for my pesonal Christmas gift this year,(just don't tell the wife till I get her a new truck, lol). Would make for a handy carry piece. tu2

P.S. Bugle I ordered a set of Hogue grips when I had an issue w/ my PakM. grips. Didn't fit me. I still have them. If you would like them they would cost you only he shipping cost, which can't be much. Hell I can't use them and maybe you could. Just something else in my hunting room I need to get rid of, don't want no profit. Just an offer to a fellow SBH shooter, if you want them.

Shooting SA is always fun. If this is your 1st SA you started right.

What screw went south?

Terminology question! Is the term pistol not used to refer to a semi automatic, rather than a generic term for a hand gun? Not knocking the OP, just asking.

Good for you Bugle. I carry a 4 5/8 SBH 44 mag, its had a long hard life and never complained once. Barring the high end custom guns, I think the Ruger SA in 44 mag is the best all around revolver going.

I have the same gun except mine's in blue. I got it at a gun show and traded the factory grips for genuine staghorns off another gun the dealer had. Those are for looks. Later on I bought the same Hogue grips for shooting that you have.

They help some, but honestly I don't think with most factory magnum loads that the recoil was bad enough that the reduction in same is very noticeable over the staghorns. I believe it's really close to the same. The gun's design seems to roll off most of the recoil anyway. I keep the Hogues on the gun, but the reason is probably more to protect the staghorns from getting cracked or whatever.

At first, the trigger was real tight (compared to factory triggers on my SWs). Tight enough that it affected accuracy. So I had a gunsmith give it an action job and it REALLY helped me shoot better.

I also had the smith paint the front sight so I can see it against a dark target or a deer. I asked for red but he talked me into white, and I have to admit he was right about that.

Now it's a very good shooting package. You'll like yours too.

Oh, one other REAL good thing about this gun..it fits perfectly the same Bianchi X-15 Large shoulder holster I use for my N frame Smiths and for my Auto Mags. It just needed a different length safety strap, which Bianchi was good enuf to provide free of charge.
