Just got home from deer hunting with a buddy, quite a great hunt!
I had a Ruger Redhawk that didn't shoot the way I felt it should so I sent it up to "Forkin Custom Classics" in White Sulphur Springs Montana. A 6 1/2 inch Pac-Nor barrel, Bowen sights and and little tweaking later all is well.
Today was it's second day hunting since it's rebirth and it's a keeper.
I got to 78 yards (range finders) from a little 4 point mulie and the 290 grain BRP gas check did the rest. Ruined some good meat though , I love heart .
After tagging, cleaning and the photo op we noticed a 3 point across the county road on land we can't hunt. We crouched down and watched as the little buck came up to the fence on the far side of the road, I was sure he wouldn't hop the fence into the road, "wrong". Then I was dead sure he'd never hop into our field, "wrong" (again). My pardner terminated his lease with his .270 at 71 yards from the buck we'd just finished cleaning and were crouching beside. Done by 8:30 AM, perfect for us old farts.

The moral to this story is; "When your chasing girls use your head or your heart will suffer".
Both bucks had that "gee I'm stupid, where's the girls?" look to em, reminds me of me in my youth.

Congrats on a very nice buck excellent bullet placement. I have hunted a few years hand gun only my friends thought I had lost my mind. I got my deer they didnt get anything. It is great to rub it in when I get a chance. I love pistol hunting.

What does the 290 grain "BRP" gas check stand for?

Swede I can't tell you what BRP stand for, but I can show you what they look like. It's a great hardcast gascheck, not as cheap as plain lead but a serious hunting slug.

Wow great shooting. Nice buck to boot too. I can't believe the damage the hard cast bullet did for you. Impressive. I love your neck of the woods. I was there years ago on vacation with my parents when I told them that I wanted to move out to montana when I finished school so they booked a trip and off we went. Besides bozeman I loved kalispel. Those two places where my favorites. Well I met my wife and that dream was over as she is a tropical girl and wants to move to FL soon. Oh well I will visit when I go hunting and take my 445 supermag Dan Wesson.

Congrats to ya.

great shot

Brian

Nice deer, but TERRIBLE shooting.
The heart is one of my favorite parts of the deer to eat too.
At least the lead bullet from a 44 does not blow it completely up.
