I picked up a Sig 1911 45 ACP Nightmare fastback recently. I am looking to get a few more magazines for it. It came with 2 factory 8 round magazines. I was wondering if anyone has a favorite other then factory magazines? I have heard good things about Chip McCormick and Wilson Combat or is it better to stick with factory magazines? Let me know what you are running in your 1911s and how they function. Thanks

The Wilson ETM 8 round magazines have been very good quality for me

I have a bunch that I picked up at a estate sale new in the wrapper.

The ones I have used work.

The Ruger, Remington factory mag's I have work also.

My favorite mags are the ones that work.

Pretty much Wilson and McCormick ones have been good for me… with the caveat that you have to be the first owner.

For some reason, every used mag I’ve brought has had issues, especially old GI ones.

It also helps to make sure they are the right caliber… I brought some McCormick ones that were supposed to be 9mm… they were .45’s.

I bought a half dozen GI surplus magazines. I might have been lucky but they work just fine. Been using them over 10 years.

Yeah, the 8-round Chip McCormick Shooting Stars have been kind to me, too.

I run 2 different magazines for all of my 1911’s.

CMC Shooting Stars and Wilson 47D’s.

I would trust my life to either.

As a Bullseye competitor, I shoot thousands of 45 acp ammo each and every year, 5000-7000. Although I'm sure there are plenty of other good magazines out there, I would not know since mine are Metalform. And I have never had one fail.

I started out with a bunch of Wilson but caught a sale on the 8 round Metalform and bought a few to try out. Figured they could be range mags if nothing else.

They turned out to be absolutely trouble free!

Now I have more Metalforms than 47D's.

I will say if I had a 1911 that was overly mag sensitive I would trip it! But in a half dozen Colts and Dan Wessons the Metalforms have been great. Just as good as the Wilsons but cheaper!

All my GI clips work, all my gun show clips work, maybe your overthinking a non existing problem for the most part, much of the time its the gun.
