Been shooting my FA 83 primarily with the .45 Colt cylinder. Just shot some .454 brass with a 325 LBT , 10 gr of Unique and a Winchester small pistol mag primer. It's a sweet shooting, field load. Got me thinking though. WHAT primers should I really use in the 454 brass? I can imagine that std small rifles would work fine for the heavy 296/H110 charges. But for the more moderate 1000 to 1200 fps loads with say Unique or Lil Gun???? What to use? FN in MT

Thank You Gentleman for the replies. I tried some CCI400's and some RP's and my velocity was not only +20 fps overall but the extreme spread was very low at about 15 fps. (Compared to the same load but with small pistol mag primers) Elk season starts in a week. Hopefully I should have a "dead cow with a FA 454" post pretty quickly. FN in MT
