I don't handgun hunt, but my son and I will both be using new .44 mag rifles this year for our Indiana firearms deer season.

One of the ammos we tried was the win.USA white box stuff. Out of about 30 shots thru both rifles, we had 10 split cases Mad

Any of you have this trouble? Anybody know how to get ahold of their QC dept? I'd like to have a little chat with them Mad

In all my yrs. shooting factory ammo, the majority of it winchester, this is a first!

This is not the first time I've heard to difficulties with Winchester White Box ammo.

I stopped buying the Winchester White Box ammo several years and now I don't buy Winchester at all.

My 45 auto loves the white box ammo.

I think after two split cases I would have stopped using that ammo. Just a thought.

RMiller, yer right. Out of 10 shots thru my 1894 marlin, I had 4 split cases. Out of the boys handi rifle, yesterday, out of 17 shots we had 6 split cases, had to use a pocket knife, to pull them out far enough from the extractor to be able to pull them out. The ammo didn't hurt the guns, but I shoulda quit sooner. The LE ammo from hornady shot perfect, and was very accurate. That's what we're gonna deer hunt with.

I would definitely give Winchester a call. Find their customer service number on their website and let it rip. Keep us posted!

I have had good results with Federal 44 Mag "red box" ammo 240 HP and SP.

Also I shot a few boxes of Magtech 44 Mag SP ammo the other day and I have no complaints about it.

Receintly shot all three of the above in rifle and handgun.

I have killed a lot of deer with a 44 mag Rifle using mostly different 240gr factory or my 240 gr handloads.

However I recently killed a pig with my 44 mag rifle with the Hornady LeverEvolution 225gr load, and it worked great.

Also I have get great accuracy from my rifle [amnd handguns as well] with the Speer 270gr factory load.

It shoots the better groups at 100 yards than the 240 loads do.

But... In my Winchester Trapper 44 Mag the Federal 300gr Cast Core shoots the best 100 yard groups of all.
