I bought my bandolier holster for my 8 3/8" 500 S&W from Cabela's for its versatility. I want to be able to carry it on either side, on the waistbelt of a pack, or a belt, or how it was designed with a bandolier. It's got room for a scope if I ever do that. Oh yeah, it's < $35 to my door.
Granted, it ain't as fancy, I'm sure, but it'll do EVERYTHING I could ever want it to do. And it's 29.99 plus shipping.

Oh yeah, they have 3 sizes, small fits up to 6 7/8.

The other comment I'd have is that I fricking HATE that behind the back and around the other arm rig with a pack. I've got another holster (Uncle Mikes) for the 500 that's like that, and it just sucks. It's a pain to adjust for different clothing and it's constantly coming undone from my belt on both sides. The weekend that I used it I was trying to trout fish, and alternate with elk hunting. Too much trouble to screw with.

Since you're in Alaska, I'd guess that what you want is something that's easily accessible, versatile, and comfortable. I'd say try it, if it's too much room in the holster, send it back. It's short money compared with what you're looking at and WAY more versatile...
