Snakes, I didn't think Sweden had snakes? Are any of them poisonous? The shot cups work pretty well but you can make your own without a great deal of trouble, if you are reloading already.

We have the common vipers and another nonvenomous snake. Our vipers are not really lethal but if you are allergic to their venom you could end up six feet under. How do you make your shotcups!???

Gatogordo I was about the ask the same question. I didn't know Sweden had snakes. The occasional dragon and maybe a few Vikings but snakes? Made in Sweden A bunch of years ago George Nonte wrote a book on handloading where he had some interesting conversions for shot loads for the various calibers. I shoot 45 Colt rather then the flasher 44 mag. I took 20 30-40 Krag cases and cut them down to fit the intire length of the Ruger BH cylinder Then had the rim thickness and diameter turned to fit the 45 Colt cyclinder. The cases lasted forever as the pressures were low and the resizing was nothing. What all this is leading up is try a 444 Marlin case to see if the rim will fit in your cylinder. If the rim fits then you can cut the cases down to fit the intire length of your cylinder. I used styrofoam cut from coffee cups as wadding, I found some thick polyethylene to use a shot cup, a piece of cardbord to act as over shot wad and hot glue to hold the over shot wad in place. The wad cutters were made from 45 Colt cases that had been chamfered to a sharp edge. This same process works for 6-71/2-8 shot size and using multiple large round ball. Jim

If you can't find the shotshells, another option is to purchase gas checks for your caliber. Put the powder in the case, put a gas check in. Fill up with shot, put another gas check in. Crimp the case. Be careful though, to be sure that the shot weight and powder charge will yield acceptable pressures. I have done this trick in a 38 special with no problems at all.

I'd go with the Speer do-it-yourself capsules because all the factory loaded stuff I've tried was very weak. I've never shot a snake, I used all mine to goof-off with like shooting clay pigeons, cans, potatoes, birds, etc. So I don't know if you need power or not. Also, depending on the gun, you can load them longer than normal for some really good power. You see, the Speer capsule is about 1-1/8" long so it eats up valuable case volume. I load mine to 1.85" and they fit my Marlin lever rifle or my long gone T/C pistol. The capsules also have a very good gas seal. If you can't find a picture of one on the net I can try to take a digital pix of one I have.
