Quote: I recently loaded one of the Gold Dot .41 210 grain HPs into a .405 Winchester at a velocity of about 1900 fps and shot it at a gallon bleach bottle full of water. Out of a handgun the bullet will usually blowup the first jug and be found in some state of expansion in the second jug. In this case the bullet blewup the first jug and was found in an inside/out condition inside the remains of the first jug. There was still some lead bonded to the jacket but most of the core had just disintegrated. Guess my question is, is there still lead bonded to the jacket? I have seen lots of "core" separations and found jackets in game and in water filled items when testing bullets but never with a Speer Gold Dot bullet. If there is still lead bonded to the electoplated jacket then wharever you hit inside the deer caused the most of the core to disintegtate leaving only what you found. Was also wondering what cartridge/velocity the bullet was launched at... Bob | ||
