Hey everybody. Has anyone played with pip squeak loads for the 50AE?
I've got a 6.5" BFR and my 11yo Son is going with me to the Linebaugh seminar tomorrow and he wants to shoot it.
I've got some Lee 440s cast, wish I had something lighter, but I would think he should be able to handle the 440s at 600fps.
Hodgdon has some light loads for the 500We here:

440s with Trail Boss, 6gns for 600fps and 8gns for 717fps.

My Quickload doesn't show the 500WE or Trail Boss. Does anyone know what the case capacity for the 500WE is?

I had some 360gn hollow base minnies sized to .501 and lubed with Carnauba Red sitting on the shelf, so I went to Quickload to try and get an idea of what might work with them.
I used 4 gns of RedDot with a CCI 350 primer and loaded about 40 rounds. Quickload estimated 600fps and I didn't chronograph them to see. They were very mild and printed clover leafs at 15 yds-ish, so I handed it over to the 11yo son. After a couple rounds to see how much sight he needed to float, he was having a great time hammering the 100yd gong. The only time the smile left his face was when he got to the end of the box.
Then someone pulled out a 50BMG a few stalls down... I've got video of him shooting it. He put 4 rounds through it and said "Dad, we have got to get one of these!"
