The Cool Guy,

Yes, have seen that. This is the reason why my next gun will be a .500 Long made by John Linebaugh

I love big bore handguns but if I go to Africa for big five animal games I'll take my .450 Ackley mag rifle and nothing else.

But for north american games I'll take one of my big bore handguns (.454 Casull or .50 AE or .500 Long).

But great article indeed.

Well, here is a rifle for you to look in to- The Savage MLII 50 Cal muzzleloader. It is designed to shoot smokeless powder- yes, don't try this with anything else.

I'm using 50 grains of Lil'gun under 240 grain .452 XTP Mags for a velocity of over 2500 ft/sec. Those could just as easily be hardcast, or 300 grain hard cast at 2300 fps.

The surprise is the kick is not that bad, either. Now, when does T-Rex season open up?

Pete
(still love the handguns, but this thing uses bullets I have on the bench!)
