Update, I know this is an old thread but I had to take a moment to praise Rugers customer support. I about gave up on Ruger after my sbh hunter went in for the third time. They sent me a letter stating they are going to replace it with a new gun at no charge. I relies all production gun makers will have a lemon from time to time but they made things right. My faith is restored.

I had this happen on both a New Model Blackhawk in .41 and a New Model Super Blackhawk in .44 (these both have the aluminum ejector rod housing). The .41 was more spectacular, because a friend of mine was shooting it (mild loads of Unique under cast bullets), and the ejector rod housing and parts flew off and hit the ground.
In both cases, though, I sent the revolvers to Ruger. They replaced the barrels along with refinishing the guns.
