Clint,

I had one of those years ago. I suggest a cast bullet weight in the 300 to 325 grain range. You can use the 2400 in the Casull. There is a good bit of loading data available from the powder manufacturer. My preference is a Keith or LFN profile.

Congrats on the first deer.

Now you'll need to keep an eye open for a matching 480 Ruger SRH Wink

psst . . . if they 'look' the same, and have them out one at a time, it appears to be only one gun. Saved my marriage by sticking w/stainless as they tend look alike. (from the gun addict book of collecting ~ intermediate level)

Just don't shoot a srh 480, I've shot them in both 454 and 480, and own a 480.

As to the 454, a good 330 gr cast bullet and H-110 is your friend. I shot some steller groups with my buddies 454 srh, but I have no idea what the charge weight was. I'd also say loaded down to 1200-1300 fps it is a much more enjoyable gun to shoot.
