This is the first hunting handgun I have owned. Does anyone have any recommendations on the type of holster I should purchase for it. Do you have any recommendations in the type of material (leather vs. nylon) and the style crossdraw, shoulder, etc. I will be doing spot and stalk pig hunts in California. Thanks for your imput

I like crossdraws for hunting for a couple of reasons:
1. Longer barreled guns carry better in the crossdraw position
2. The movement to draw the gun is less pronouced should you be "caught" with a holstered gun when you come upon something worth shooting.

The Bianchi Cyclone works well for me. Holsters have to be made from leather - It's a law! Smiler

You do not say, but I presume you have it scoped. I have several holsters made by Uncle Mikes that i have cut down the top of the holster to allow the revolver and scope to fit in the holster. I have then sewn leather over the top of the holster to protect the scope and give the holster some support lost in the cutting. These work very well for me.

I use a Super Blackhawk 44 for deer in Iowa. I use a nylon bandoleer holster and swear by it. Just be sure to use a belt with it so it doesn't flop around like a cousin of mine complained about. The bandoleer sits a bit higher than a belt mounted cross-draw and the weight is carried by your shoulder. There are several out there. Mine doesn't have a flap covering it and I wish it did. Also, pop open scope caps like the Butler Creeks are well worth it. I had a heck of a time the first year I hunted with it due to a heavy snow getting on the lens. Enjoy!

If you can't have fun, what good is life?
Were liberals born that stupid or did they work at it?
