Is anyone loading 360 & 370 grn cast bullets in their .454 casull ? I cant seem to find recipes anywhere I look. Due to a bad , recent injury I may have to hunt full time with my Casull on my Africa trip "Oh Darn"! And I leave in two weeks.

I am tossing between a 300 grn Speer JSP in front of 32grn H-110 or a 370 grn "Cast Performance CO." LBT. The only loads I can find for the Cast is with W296. Anyone hear of an H110 load for the heavier 45 cal .452 cast bullets ?

Thanx..................J

From what I understand H110 is W296.

What kind of revolver do you have? I shoot my Super Redhawk 454 with 360 grain LBT LFNGC with 26 grains of H110. Please keep in mind that I developed this load for my gun only and it may not be good for your gun. If you have a Freedom Arms, then it can be pushed a little harder. Good luck. Cheer! Ming

I have a RB too. But from my point of view a 335 gr bullet is the max for that gun. A SRH is a little bit more stronger than the Taurus.

I load in my Taurus a 250 gr bullet with 33 gr of W296, and 300 gr bullet with 30 gr W296.

I'm planning to use 335 gr bullet LBT, with 26 gr of W296.

With my other .454 Casull (FA) I load full loads and I'll use a 360 gr bullet.

WW296 and H-110 are the same powder. It is made for Winchester and Hogdon by a company called Primex(i think that is its name). From what i have read Winchester buys one lot and Hogdon buys another lot. I have used both in my 454, and there is no difference i can tell. Some say what Winchester buys is a better lot then Hogdons but I can't tell any difference.

I shoot out of my SRH 26grns. of 296 with a 360 hard cast. This is about max for my gun, much higher and the hulls stick in the cylinder. This is a very accurate load and will penatrate over 4 ft of wet paper like its not even there. I don't have any velocities yet, but should be around 1500-1550fps out of my 7.5" tube. This should be more than enough to kill anything in Africa, or anywhere else for that matter. Good luck, hope this helps. Keep us posted on the hunt!!!!

JHook, that 26 grains of H110 should work fine with the 370 CP bullet. I was loading 26 grains under the very same bullet in 45 Colt cases in my RB when I had it. It was a good 1400 FPS load.

Maybe try something around 22gr of AA#9 if case capacity is a concern?
