At 11 mm thick, the Sinn U50 is even thinner than the popular Sinn 104 and is one of the most comfortable diver's watches in the category.


Sinn U50 case is made from German submarine steel and features a Tegimented bezel.

Finally, the water resistance. Despite the lower profile case size, the Sinn U50 boasts 500 meters of water resistance. The same rating can also be expressed as 50 bar, hence the "U50" name.


A Durable 41 mm Case

The watch case of the Sinn U50 is made from the same steel used in the construction of the outer hull of submarines. The steel was procured by Sinn from a steel supplier to Emden GmbH, one of Germany's North Sea shipbuilding yards who construct submarines using the material.

This special steel is also amagnetic which means that is does not have magnetic properties and cannot itself become magnetized. The watch movement itself is protected from magnetic fields up to 4,800 A/m.

Another important and practical feature of the submarine steel case is corrosion resistance. The case of the Sinn U50 resists the effects of exposure to salt water and salt water environments.


The international testing lab of Germanischen Lloyd has tested the Sinn U50 and certified it as water resistant to 500 meters. This same firm tests submarines for their ability to withstand the effects of underwater use.

The uni-directional rotating bezel is milled from the same submarine steel as the case and is Tegimented. The indices are machined directly into the bezel without the use of bezel inserts, which can corrode or come loose at deep depths.

The bold block hour markers are white and offer a stark contrast against the black dial. The block seconds hand is a bright red. This unique design gives the Sinn U50, and its larger brother the Sinn U1, a distinct look that also provides maximum legibility underwater.
