Here is rare custom Double Bit axe from Josh Clarke's shop . He started with a mint 1970s era Vaughn 4lb Double bit Cruiser axe. The overall weight is 4.25lb without the sheath and the length is 34". After a thorough inspection , the head was reground polished .It was then blued and then given a razor sharp edge. The handle is very tight to the head with perfect grain flow runing vertically through it's full length .The factory varnish was removed and the handle was torched and hand sanded . Then it was given dozen coats of Boiled linseed oil over a month's time. The handle has a beautifully smooth , yet grippy finish. Josh Custom designed a unique and rugged leather edge mask for this axe. It is made from heavy weight English bridle leather and is hand sewn with a full welt construction on each end. .It was saddle stitched with Josh's "tri-tack" traingular reinforcements at the corners. The full flap design iuses a handmade Antler button and leather thong closure. IMO, it is a useful and very cool looking bit cover.. I would put the overall quality of this axe up against ANY of the currently made Swedish Double bit axes running about $250++ these days. My price on this one is REDUCED to $150 plus $25 shipping in CONUS. PayOal or USPS MO as payment please.Thanks. | ||
