I recognize that this may be a long shot, but I am looking to see if anyone on AR has any 16 gauge 2 1/2" shotgun shells for sale. I recently purchased a Winchester Model 12, 16 gauge shotgun manufactured in 1922 that has a 2 9/16" chamber. Gun is in decent shape, I just can't find anyone who currently has any 16 gauge shotgun 2 1/2" shells for sale. A number of shotgun shell manufacturers do make them, but no one currently has any available. Moreover, I don't reload, so cutting some 2 3/4" 16 gauge shells down is not doable for me. I know that a lot of 16 gauge 2 1/2" owners who reload do that, but I'm not in that category. I also know that you could send the shotgun off to Simmons and have them enlarge the ejection port as well as open up the chamber, but I really don't want to modify the shotgun. Big Grin

Vaughn, good luck. I got some from a member here a few years ago. I have a 97 + a 1914 model 12, both take the 2.5", so I really don't want to lose any inventory. Hopefully there is someone here that can help you out, even if loading some. That being said, I have been debating selling them both as I never use them. If I do, I will keep you in mind on the shells.

Keep an eye on RST shotshells, they had short 16's in stock a week or so ago.

That was my first shotgun -- a Model 12 16 "Nickel Steel" barreled with the short chamber. I knew nothing about the short chamber issue and shot regular 2 3/4 shells in it for years.
That said, you might call Dean up at Skeet's in Oklahoma and ask about it. I had a Husqvarna hammer double a while back with short chambers and super-tight full-plus chokes that I had him open up. As to the chamber issue, he said just shoot Federals. They have a slightly shorter hull.

Here are some in stock by the case, beware sticker shock.

Which is exactly why I bought a Lee shotgun press in 16 when I got my Winchester 12 in 16 gauge. Back then it was $39.95. Less than a case of ammo by far.

Thanks so much for all of the advice gentlemen! JonP: I am in Las Vegas, Nevada. Let me know exactly what you have, the price, etc. In any event, I am not in a hurry.
Bill: Thanks for the advice on the Federals. I had also heard that same thing about Remington with black hulls. Buckeyeshooter: Thanks for the info. kda55: Thanks for the warning! Randy: If you get the itch at some time, you know how to reach me! This is why AR is such a valuable website! Regards, UEG

Ballistic Products has them on sale. I have bought from them for years, they are not a scam. Never bought from the other folks, but have had several SASS shooters using that brand. Sorry, if it was a bad steer.

I have a case of B&P F2 shells (67mm) in #5 shot. Their case is only 8 boxes or 200 shells. Take what I paid which was $110 but the shipping probably won't make it worth your while.

Thanks samir and JonP. If you both get a chance to check out the length and/or shipping costs, I would certainly appreciate any answers. tu2

Gentlemen: Just for the record, I'm still looking for any 2 1/2 inch or 65 mm 16 gauge shotgun shells for the 101 old year Winchester 16 gauge warhorse described at the beginning of this post. Prefer 4, 5, 6, or 7 1/2s. I'm also checking the internet on a daily basis. Any current leads on any such available ammo, as described above, is also very much appreciated. Thanks again. Note: Samir: Sam, I just responded to your PM. UEG
