![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Have decided to sell my .270x.225 (IMP) Van Horn Contender barrel, which is dimensionally the same as the .270 JDJ. It is blued, 20.625” long and incredibly accurate. It has a very slight taper, mikes 0.725” at the muzzle and is set up for S14 forend spacing. Its favored load launches the 95 grain Barnes TTSX at 2920 fps, and the bullet – designed for 6.8 SPC speeds – opens widely yet retains the majority of its weight. I bought it as new/old stock last year along with a set of RCBS .270 JDJ dies and paid $500 shipped. I am asking $475 but will include 41 hunting loads with the 95 grain TTSX at 2920 fps, 37 fireforming loads in new .225 WCF brass (loaded w/ 130 grain Nosler BTs), 13 fired cases and 7 new cases resized, prepped and ready to be loaded for fireforming. That adds up to 98, and I started with 100 pieces of new .225 WCF brass, so I'm going to search my loading desk and see what I did with other two ha ha. I’ll also include a partial box of Barnes 95 grain TTSX component bullets (and a few 140 grain Ballistic Tips that are on the bench). I also have three full boxes of the 95 grain TTSX that I'd sell for just $85 total if purchased with the barrel. They shoot exceptionally well with the only powder I've used -- SW Precision (Varget equivalent) -- and they expand to a wide frontal diameter, much like the TAC-TX 110 and 120s in .30 caliber. NOTE: I did not receive a box with the dies but have re-purposed an extra RCBS box that I had here and will be including that as well. $475 shipped anywhere in the US. And by purchasing, you're indicating that you're of legal age to own/possess these items and under no legal restriction preventing you from doing so. EDITED to ADD: Someone inquired about the forend spacing. Yes, you can use typical rifle forends simply by adding an extra hole in the stock. Because I use barrels from multiple makers, I have mine set up like the forend below: ![]() Bobby Μολὼν λαβέ The most important thing in life is not what we do but how and why we do it. - Nana Mouskouri | ||
