This is a beautiful and nearly perfectly laid laid out 2 piece stock set of XXX Fancy American Black walnut. This set of wood was purchased by a good friend 25 years ago at the Reinhart Fajen liquidation auction in 1998. I bought several of those Fajen blanks from as he bought nearly a full pallet of wood there.

The set is all dark reddish heartwood no sapwood ,large knots or bark pockets. Beautifull Crotch curl lacing across the butt with perfect grain flow through the wrist blank with color and crotch figure throughout the butt section. The figure in the forend that matches the curly grain in the forward section of the butt with good grain flow as well. The Buttstock blank is 2.25" thick x 18" long by 6.75 " deep at the butt .The forend is 2.25 thick x 2.5 " deep x 12" long.

The Buttstock blank is thick enough for almost and rifle stock with a cheekpiece and is long.enough for ANY for lever gun, single shot or shotgun stocks like side by sudes and over- unders. The forend is long and thick enough enough for just about any type of forend.
