These are the new Hunter's axes from Josh Clarke. I complelely sold out of them during Christmas and just recieved a small group of them this week. They will be the last ones available at the 2024 price.

Josh recently began a relationship with one of the oldest tool forges in Germany and is now making axes using a 1055 alloy steel heads forged to his design specs. They are a Hudson Bay pattern heads and closely resemble the highly regarded old "Norlund" axes. In my opinion, these axes are the best to ever come out of Josh's shop .

The specs are the two models are as follows-

The regular Hunter axe is 16" long and the total weight is 32 to 34 ounces. Overall, it is about the same size as Josh's previous "Outfitter" Axes.

The Superlight Hunter axe is 14" long and weighs 22 to 24 ounces. It is about the same size as Josh's Rifleman's axes.

The forgings are hand ground and polished in his shop. He then hand hafts them with the best grade U.S. Hickory handles and then finshed. The bevels are ground thin and are agressive choppers. The edge is honed razor sharp . The polls are a "Hunter" style with contoured round edges so it can also be used for flaying hides. There is still a broad"flat" on the poll for driving stakes etc. The contoured edges are also easier on pack fabric. Once finished ,each head is deeply marked with Josh's "Broadsword" blade mark.

The countoured Anerican Hickory handles are thicker at the neck which makes them stronger and more comfortable and hand filling when choking up close for carving tasks. The handles are hand sanded and torched in Josh's trademark "Ringtail" pattern . Finally, they are given at least a half dozen coats of Linseed oil for a smooth , yet grippy texture.

Each axe is shipped wth one of Josh's Hand sewn leather edge Masks.

The Regular pricing on the new axes are $149 for the Large Hunter and $139 for the Hunter Superlight.
