This is a beautiful and nearly perfectly laid laid out 2 piece stock set of Exhibition grade Curly American Black walnut. This set of wood was purchased by a good friend 25 years ago at the Reinhart Fajen liquidation auction in 1998. I bought several of those Fajen blanks from him after he pirchased many high grade blanks there.

The set is all heartwood no sapwood ,large knots or bark pockets. Perfect grain flow through the wrist blank with color and intense 100% Fiddleback Curl running the full length of both blanks. I cannot emphasize how intense the curly graun is in these bkanks. It is amazingly intense and ripples down the length of the blanks as you turn them in your hand!

The Buttstock blank is 2.25" thick x 18 " long by 6.75 deep. The forend is 2.25 x 12" longx 3.5" deep. The Buttstock blank is thick enough for a stock with cheekpiece and will be long enough for stocks like Ruger Number 1 , 1874 Sharps rifles, Side by side or over under shotguns. The forend is long enough for just about any type of lever gun or single shot forend.

One.note on the color. The top two pics were tsken in full sunlight to catch the curl. I feel the actual color is a shade darker than those pics show. The actual color IMHO is more like the bottom two pics with the buttstock window patterns of them.
