OK, so I've done another faux pas. Just sold my last .45 and have a few factory cartridges and even more reloads left. Really don't want to buy a gun just to shoot this stuff up. I know you don't sell reloads except for component salvage. That said I have: 18 Core Bons and 4 USA 230 FMJ factory cartridges. Reloads: 87 LHBRN w Bullseye, 137 230 LRN Blue dot. With 24 MTM J50-45 plastic 2 piece plastic boxes.

If you think this is long winded to read, imagine the time/effort for an old man. Confused

I am in SE Michigan and would willingly do a face to face deal.

Anyoue have an idea of value? Or should I just chuck in Lake erie or the Detroit River?

I can text a picture of this pile if ya wanna see.

Id suggest pricing it out as components. Figure one how much the bullets sell for a piece and hprice on brass and then price accordingly since it has been loaded and would need to be pulled down. Powder is a wash or would be for me as i would pitch it since i didnt load it. So essentially you have 200ish primed cases and some bullets. Just my opinion. I may be interested as well if you do come up with a price.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but with new ball ammo at $20-22 a box, this might be worth half that for the trouble to pull for components. Give it to a friend. (FYI, you can't legally ship primed brass)

Why is that? Ammo is shipped daily without being hazardous.

You are asking why? Come on, we all know the answer is, 'Because we said so.' The truth of the matter is that you need to send primed brass along with loaded ammo, as well as powder +/or primers separately by UPS ground, stupid yes, but that has never stopped the government before.

Who is going to know what you ship?
I have shipped and received more packages containing live ammo in small quantities than I could count. Primers and powder I have not shipped, but hey if I had a box of some ammo and someone here wanted it I package it up and off it goes.
Call me a reckless rebel if you like but its done far more often than most of you realize.

It happens a lot, besides the vast majority of postal employees don't know what the product is. I know a few years ago I wanted to send a bottle of Llano Texas red wine to a friend up north + was told that I could not because it was explosive. C'mon, whiskey yes, wine no. Another time I was shipping some bullets + the postmistress said no way. I had to explain to her that the bullet was the projectile, not a loaded round. And she was retired military. No wonder some many have contempt for the rules.

Michael,
I was about to order a bunch of the J50-45 MTM boxes yesterday & was directed to your post by another BE shooter that frequents this forum. MTM is discontinuing these & they're closing them out.
If you're so inclined, I'd be interested in all of the j50-45 boxes. They're my favorite for packing in 50cal ammo cans when traveling to Bullseye matches.

You absolutely cannot ship primed brass. I had sold 200 primed .50 BMG, Midway cases to an AR member. I took them to the UPS hub myself. They will not under any circumstances ship it.

As far as just doing it, there would be federal laws broken and I’m just not willing. I returned the members money. I’m stuck with these unless I can find somebody local to me that wants them.

Primers same thing. There is an exemption for loaded ammo. Not sure why, but these are just the facts. I spoke directly to their hazardous materials person at the hub.

Steve is right. You cannot ship primers or primed brass. You can ship ammo. I am not certain but I think the penalty is the same as shipping C4

When I had primed brass to sell, I just deprimed it before shipping

This post is hilarious for what it is. I understand nobody wants to get on the wrong side of the BATF and such but for hells sake we drop pallets of ammunition from aircraft in situations and it doesn't go bang. As far as shipping live ammo vs primed brass one would think the one with the projectile and propellant that would be considered more risky. If I was me I'd ship it to whoever pmd me and ship it as empty brass or granite coasters or fishing stinkers if they were to even ask.
Just my thoughts on this subject
