For a savage 99 wouldn't you be better off with a full length die and perhaps use it to neck size a couple of times if your lucky, then need to full lenth again...Im a 250 savage mod 99 nostalgic addict. Just saying?? I may have an extra die, have to look.

If you are only going to resize the neck, then any bore specific die will do, + need not be caliber specific. I have many Hornadys that I use with graphite + has always worked well, providing they were fired in the same chamber.

I have used the RCBS FL die I have with the die set.
If done carefully, it will size half the neck
and works well.
A regular neck size die will do a better job. The Savage 99 does'nt stretch cases like other lever action rifles, but will have to FL eventually.

What I do with most of my many caliber dies is put a home made plastic washer from a deli container in between the die and press. This neck sizes the case and does not push the shoulder back. Works Great and allows for MANY reloadings. Plus you do not have to keep readjusting the die.

Hip

P.S. Sorry if I high jacked your thread! Confused
