While I never tried this with .22 pellets, I have made "wax bullets" for the .357 mag. They work great for practice in the basement, or shooting wasps off the ceiling during the summer. Simply melt parafine wax in a pot of boiling water, and pour the melted wax into a flat pan about 1/2" deep. Let it cool. I took .357 cases that were starting to split at the mouth from reloading too many times, and drilled out the flashole, leaving enough web for primers to seat against. Prime the cases, then push the mouth of the case into the cooled wax, giving it a little turn so it cuts the wax. They were a lot of fun.  | ||

How about foam earplugs? Roll them into a primed case, fire a Nerf bullet. H. C. By the way, I haven't tried it yet. If I was pretty sure it wouldn't deposit hard-to-remove partially burned polyurethane in my chamber and bore, I'd try it for sure. Oh, that and we have a 1-year old baby. Having bite-sized lead-contaminated earplugs laying around in front of the television doesn't seem prudent just now. | |||

Hello; Speer made a system along this line years ago for .38 Special, .357 magnum calibers. Plastic bullets were fired out of re-usable plastic cases by primers alone. I once built chamber inserts for my hunting rifles that fired airgun pellets powered by a large rifle primer. My initial problem was the primer just punching a hole through the pellets, leaving most of the pellet in the barrel. Solved that by putting epoxy into the back end of the pellets. | |||

I fire .22 cal. pellets out of my .220 Swift,.223 and .222. All I do is prime the case and insert the pellet. Lotta fun in the basement. My Strength Is That I Can Laugh At Myself, My Weakness Is That I have No Choice. | |||

Brocock is still in business, they do a lot of work besides airguns. Just the "TAC" guns are no longer sold in the UK. But they were made by Weirauch, for Brocock, and are also produced by Ubreti, Peta, and Taurus. So they still are available. The Home Office is considering dropping the ban on them, as the Police don't want to bother with it, strangely they seem more concerned with criminals who carry large capacity handguns and fully automatic military weapons, and most of the owners have totally ignored it. Except for those who have got a licence for their "TAC" guns and while they are at it ... a Rimfire, a Pistol cal. carbine, a .308 for Deer, a 12ga, a practical shotgun with slugs, and anything else they can think of. I once read an article by Paco Kelly (on the Sixgunner website) where he talked about drilling out the primer pockets of .22 Hornet cases so they would hold Winchester 209 primers. He then inserted .22- caliber pellets backwards into the mouths of the primed cases. His claim was that the rounds were dead silent, were good for about 600 fps, and were absolutely deadly on feral dogs out to about 40 yards. | |||

Used to use the wax bullets in my .41 until I dicovered speer and their plastic re-usable cases and bullets in .357 and .44 No hassel, mess, and just right for teaching anti gun missus to shoot, killing rats and keeping the neigbores cats out of the kids sandpit | |||

Speer makes a plastic galary bullet i have some in 45 and 38 they use a standard piece of brass and a primer you just shove them in with your thumb you can reuse the bullets they are pretty hard and will hurt someone so be careful VERITAS ODIUM PARIT | |||

There's a guy in canada who sells a little kit. It includes a swaging die to force 00 buckshot through to make a projectile the proper diameter for your barrel. Then he has an empty shell that has been drilled to accept one of those shells for driving nails into cement I forget what they are called. You put the lead into the bullet then fire it--It's amazingly accurate and dead quiet great for grouse while youre carrying your rifle. the chef | |||

I do the same thing, small pistol primers in range pickup 223rem brass with 22cal air rifle pellets. I just make it a point to wipe out the primer grit before shooting any "real" ammo. Another fun game was chasing squirrels around the trees in the back yard, take a 12ga shotshell that won't crimp any more, cut the crimp away with a sharp knife Prime it and then insert any handy shotshell wad with stiff pedals (Windjammer wads don't work for this) BACKWARDS into the shell When fired with the primer only they will go fast enough to really piss off the squirrel you hit with one... they'll only go fast enough at close range to make holes in a cardboard box. BTW, use your Cylinder or IC choke tube. and make sure the bore is clear before firing any "real" shotshells. If you have a pump you can actually cycle them through the gun as fast as you can fire them off... AllanD If I provoke you into thinking then I've done my good deed for the day! X-ring makes hollow rubber bullets in .38, .44, & .45 that load into an empty case propelled by a primer. They recommend drilling out the flash hole so the primer doesn't back out. I used them in my 45-70 for squirels raiding the bird feeder when there was a back-stop issue. Not lethal, but could punch out the cardboard. I've done the shotshell thing except I just cut the petals off the wad. Always wondered if you could dab on some axle grease for a "marker" round. All that's gold does not glitter. Target-38's.....they use a Large Pistol Magnum primer like a CCI#350 and have a velocity in excess of 500 fps and can cause bodily harm up to 75 ft (according to the box). I have some that I used to shoot mice with when I rented a house out in the country once. they will shoot through drywall at 25ft. The Speer # is 8515 on the box for cases. they are pretty accurate too. T/C Contender Shooter | |||

The soft wax in revolver ammo is one of my favorite up close defensive loads for in town, shop, or basement practice when the weather won't cooperate. Very good and can be picked up and reused many times. Much easier to find the pieces than it is the rubber bullets. When us kids were pulling stupid stunts. Someone had the notion to fill primed and charged 12ga hulls with melted wax then drop a couple or three glass marbles in it. Plenty of cushion so it don't harm a bore. I shot a rat once with a .45 Speer plastic bullet (from about six feet). It didn't kill it, but seemed to adle it. That gave me a chance to reload with lead, which needless to say, did the trick. | |||
