I am wanting to try the phoone book test for penetration and expansion of all my different rifles and pistols. Is there any special way the soaked phone books need to be arranged? How many large books are needed for magnum loads?

You need to make sure you have at least 3 feet or so of phonebooks. A 22 lr can penetrate nearly 2 large phonebooks. If you have a doubt as to whether or not you have enough to stop a hp rifle, add more phone books!

How many last names are there in Mentone?

Miss Gray, I will bet that you know my friends, Terry and Dorma Hutchenson- Terry is a shyster in Ft. Payne, and Dorma is at the Mentone Post Office. The population of Mentone goes way up this time of year because of the Summer Camps. If you run in to either of them say Hi for me.

Is it safe to let for a 58 year old man run around in the woods unsupervised with a high powered rifle?

Miss Dorma is anticipating being named our Postmaster and she deserves it. We moved here from Ft. Walton/Destin two years ago and think ourselves fortunate.
You would be safe in the woods.

Hi Smoke-em

When I was making bonded core bullets I made a special bracket for doing wet pack tests as I was doing quite a few. Here is a pic.

A 180gr bullet from a 30-06 would get through about half of this. The nice thing about this bracket is that I could use phone books or old newspapers as seen in this pick. Soak them well first then pack them in and tighten the bolts to compress it a little then shoot from the front. This pic is from the side.

When I was a kid, I learned to drive on those roads around Mentone. Great view from the top of Lookout Mountain. I love that place.
