A novelty event for black powder shoots.
For each two man team you will need 2 aluminum drink cans. At the range they tend to be soft drink cans but beer can has a better ring to it. Fill one can with water and place the second can, empty, on top. First shooter must hit the bottom can which should launch the second into the air where it is shot at by shooter number two using a shotgun. The height of the launch is dependent on where and how solidly the first shooter strikes the bottom can. If each shooter puts in a dollar and there are 10 teams or so the winners get to split the $20. Some times there is a mioss by shooter one and number two shooter has no shot. Other times the top can will barly make it 2 feet in the air but once in a while the second can will fly 30 or 40 feet straight up.

Get an empty 5L paint can, fill it with water, put the lid on, place it upsidedown ....
Shoot with a 12g slug.

Murf, does the top can go straight up or does the water coming out of the "drinking hole" impart a directional force on the top can?

Fill the bottom can with FFFg.

Use a sealed can of ANYTHING for the top can

Shoot the bottom can.

Have a "spotter" watching the flight of the top can as on it's... eventual... return to earth it can cause
dents on anyone who happens to get between it and the ground.

BP don't ignite on impact! Been there done that.

The proper way to do the BP thing is to get wide masking tape and put a square inch of percussion caps on the sticky side before sticking it to the can of BP. Mark that spot with bright marker on the outside and let 'er rip.
