I am not really sure if this is the right place to put this but I had fun shooting so here goes. It was held at Tiger Valley down around Waco. http://www.tigervalley.com/
There were about 20 shooters. Over half were LE or Military types. I am neither. The AR15 in some form was carried by all. Sight included iron, EOTech, reflex and my Leupold dot. The EOTechs ruled the range. Barrels ranged from the standard 20" to the 11.5" the LE guys had as well as full and collapable stocks. We shot at ranges from 15yds to 300yds. The details are on the wed site.
TJ and Bret set up a drill on the 1000yd range of 25 shoot targets and 1 no shoot. The targets started about 800yds and stoped at the impact area of the range. The last target was the no shoot target with a shoot target next to it. Sounded like no big deal until we found out that we would be riding in TJ's truck at 20mph down the range road hanging out the window shooting at these things. Standard IPSC targets were used, with an A hit or 2 holes anywhere for a kill on that target. The last I heard a guy killed 17 and used about 120 rounds. I got 9 before my gun gave up.
My Bushmaster ran like a hose the first day then it started jaming. Other shooters offered to lend me there spare guns and some even gave me spring to try to get it more reliable. What I found (when I got back to the house) was the key on the top of the carrier became loose due to the poor staking of the screws. Now as bad as that sounds it did give alot of time to work on my transition from carbine to handgun.
It was a great 3 days. I shot about 1300 rounds out of my AR and about 400 rounds out of my Glock 23. I have heard that some of the LE guys with the switch guns ran over 3000 rounds.
I thanked TJ before I left and told him that it was great to let us civilians get this kind of training. TJ said "you guys need it. Now if one of thoses *%^#@&! bugger-eaters busts through your door at 2am you know what to do."
They were talking about a 800rd a day handgun class in the spring that will last 3 days. If it makes I will be there. If you ever have the chance to take one of these classes, do it.
I hope yall get a chance to come and learn. Just to watch the LE and Military guys do this stuff is art and I stand humbled in there shadows.
