I have a Savage 223 on the way I'm getting my bench setup for reloading. I have sierra 69gr HPBT and hornady 75gr Amax to start with but I haven't selected a powder yet. Anyone have one powder that's good for both of these bullets?

BTW, I do have IMR4350 and W760 on hand from my 30 cal reloading.

Thanks,
Steve

Varget, or IMR 4064, IMR 4895, H 322 all work well with 68/69 grain match bullets and above... your Savage will do well with bullet weights up thru 80 grains...

also check out the 80 grain A Max to provide some thump in the field...

Both your 4350 and W 760 will also give reliable performance and accuracy, I have tried both in my Savage 223, and a Ruger rebarrel with a fast twist..

Thanks guys, I'll have to give that Varget a try ... seems to be very popular with the 223 crowd. Of course as luck would have it, both stores here are sold out right now. Roll Eyes

seafire, you've had good luck with 80grs in a 1:9 twist?
I thought I'd be pushing it with the 75's but figured it was worth a try.

My Savage shoots them just like it does the 40 grainers... just as accurate... just not as fast...
