Does anyone have information on a load for .243 Win. using the following components: Bullet - Hornady 100 gr BTSP Powder - IMR 4895

Hodgdon.com shows a starting load of 32.8 gr of IMR-4895 behind a 100gr Speer BTSP for 2683 fps, and pressure of 42,300 CUP, with a maximum load of 35.7 gr for velocity of 2862 at 50,100 CUP. IMR-4895 is probably not the best powder for that weight of bullet in the .243 Win. A slower burning powder would give better velocity and loading density, which should give more consistent results. You might consider trying IMR-4350 or even the slower burners like H-4831 or Reloder 22. Bullets are pretty worthless. All they do is hang around waiting to get loaded.

Would IMR 4320 be a better powder for this bullet?

http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp http://accuratepowder.com/data/Accurate%20v322%20web%20publication.pdf http://www.alliantpowder.com/reloaders/RecipeDetail.asp...id=1051&bulletid=177 http://www.ramshot.com/powders/ http://www.vihtavuori-lapua.com/pdfs/Reloading-Guide.pdf IMR 4320 is still kinda fast for that bullet. As 2ndtimer suggested you may want to get down to the 4350 range or even slower. What loading manuals do you have?

I use that bullet with 44 gr RL 22. IMR 4350 is a good powder for the 243.

The Hornady 7th ed does not list IMR4895 for the 100 gr BTSP. They do list H4895 for the lighter bullets but nothing above 87 grains. LWD
