Gentlemen, I would appreiciate a load using 7828, 250 CCI or Win magnum primers and the 180 grain TTSX that will safely make 3200 fps out of a Mark V with a 26 inch barrel. Thanks, Lou **************** NRA Life Benefactor Member

Lou I have a couple rifles chambered in 300Wby and there are two powders that do real well for me.I use fed 215 primers with 7828. The win mag primer is close to the Fed primers. I would suggest you start about 80 grs and work up 1 gr at a time. RL 25 is also very good. I prefer the CCI250 primers with it. Again start at 80 grs and work up. Hope this helps

Gents, thanks for the great info. By chance do any of you have the Barnes Min and max load and velocities for the 180 TTSX? Do they use a 26" bbl for their tests? Thanks, Lou **************** NRA Life Benefactor Member

I think you can easily start at the 83 grain load listed above if you are using wby brass. If using rem you should start about 2 grains lower. You should easily get up to 3250 over the chrono. 7828 is a real go to powder for the 300 wby. I haven't played with the ttsx 180 yet but the old tsx has been a real winner in my 300 wby ultralight although retumbo wound up being my go to powder for that gun. I have played with the 130 ttsx in several guns and not a gun shot over moa with them. I think the ttsx line is THE BEST hunting bullet on the market now.

I second what previous posters have said that IMR7828 is an excellent 300 Weatherby powder. I use the SSC version to allow easier metering. A suggestion-you should look at the 200 grain bullets. Unless you are really sold on the TTSX, I think you will find that the 200 grain TSX will safely make 3000, sometimes in some rifles 3100 fps and the trajectory is not that different. For larger game like elk or the bears the higher sectional density and weight seem to give the Weatherby an advantage. For African game I think the 200 grain bullets excel. Paul, thanks for the great info. I have contemplated the 200, but wonder if it's needed as I am planning to use the 300 for caribou and moose. I'll get some to play with. What was your pet load with 7828 and the 200 TSX? Thanks, Lou **************** NRA Life Benefactor Member
