Buddy emailed me saying he was hunting hogs in TX and a couple of guys were using subsonic 308 w/suppressor. So he got a wild hair. He doesn't reload nor do I want to fool with it. So the million $$ question is!!!!!

Does anyone make a factory Subsonic 308 in a hunting bullet. I know IMI and Lapua do but they are FMJ. Will a soft point even open at subsonic velocities? So if anyone knows of factory of custom ammo please help me point him in the right direction.

As usual just my $.02

I doubt it; that is why they invented the 300 Whisper.

Basically what I told him except I said the 300 Blackout. As I said IMI and Lapua make factory. Cor-bon makes subsonic as well as one of the suppressor manufacturers.

Just something about trying to find a load that would be subsonic and be safe in that large case just doesn't set with me.

Thanks guys. After a little feedback from me sharing what I could find with your help and some searching on his own he has dropped the thought.

Decided if he need a suppressed 30 cal he would go the Blackout option. But since he has about as many wants as I do it will probably die on the vine.
