Northfork bullets are great. Three one shot kills on big game. The cape buffalo I shot was standing facing me at 70 yards. I took him with a cup point solid midline just under the muzzle. AT the hit he stood and shuddered he turned to run. My rifle went up as well as Sarges 458 Lott. Ten yards later the bull was dead. On butchering, it was found that the CPS took out the top of the heart and both the aorta and venacava. A second insurance shot was made. Everyone there was stunned. They had never seen a bull hit so hard and go down so fast. The bullet was found in the spine at approximately the end of the rib area.
The next shot was at a hippo in the river. They provide such a small target in that environment. The flat point solid hit him so hard and whisteled out the other side. Everyone was very pleased. The last animal was shot by my wife. My 416 Taylor is loaded with GS Custom bullets. The buffalo Steve shot was also facing forward. The 380 gr GS FN solid took the bull mid chest and took out the top of the heart and both the aorta and vena cava and just kept going with full penetration out the left hip. The Turned at the hit, ran 30 yards and died. The insurance shot was likewise lost. Two days later Steve shot his hippo with a side brain shot at about 80 yards with full penetration. The last of the big bore rounds was done by Susan. She had missed out on an opportunity to shoot a croc. As a concillation I let her take a portion of my bag. We spotted a really fine waterbuck one evening. Steve had forgotten to bring the 9.3x62 ammo and the only rifle in the truck was the 416 Taylor. She and Sarge stalked to within 100 yards of the waterbuck and he instructed her to hit him on the shoulder. One shot and the buck went down. An insurance shot was given though not needed and Susan had her waterbuck as well as a black eye from creaping the stock. She got to keep the waterbuck, the black eye was gone in a week. All in all we had a grand time and will return soon to have another go at the game. Next year maybe a trip to the RSA for some animals we havent been successful with to this point.

I used the exc. NF soft on my buffalo last year. Sim. shot to yours but a bit lower & only 50yds out. The buff. was lying down & I shot him as he started to stand. He flopped, tried to stand three or four times & went down. I put a finisher in as he was giving his bellow. My PH was equally impressed w/ the perf. of my .404 & the 380grNF. Unfortunately, I didn't recover the bullet, but the hole in the heart was about the size of a quarter. I'm sold on them.

I am going to use the 165 gr. bullet in my 300 WSM this year, should I keep the velocity down or do you guys think it will be fine shooting it around 3100 fps for deer.

I spoke with Mike at Northfork this week about using the 165 gr. in my 300 Win Mag at app. 3175 fps and he said I should have no problems, although he recommended the 180 gr. instead because of SD for elk. With either one you should be OK. Great bullet for accuracy and terminal performance.
