anyone played with these yet? I've had some good results on paper and they seem to be capable of good velocity/accuracy in my 22-250's when pushed hard with RL10. Also they did very well in a Stevens 1-9 twist 223 with 4198, under an inch. I'm gonna do up some 221 F.B. loads with 4198 and Lil Gun with'em also.

Next will be the bean fields for some Chuck's to see how they perform.

I recently did some load developing with the 30 grain Calhoons... was looking for an accurate 223 load, using faster powders.. to stretch out the old reload budget and barrel life...

11 grains of Unique, with the 30 grain Calhoon HP, gave me MVs consistently at 3300 fps and proved to be very accurate at 50 and 100 yds...

Because of lack of BC worth a darn, I consider the bullet a 200 yd load....a hot 22 Hornet...

I played with them a couple of years ago in a 22-250 ,and a 22 Hornet. I was looking to see how fast I could get them going. 42 gr. of varget gave me 4670 fps. out of a 26 inch barrel. Didn't check for accuracy.

Hornet loads were 13 gr. of Lil'Gun gave poor accuracy,so I didn't chrony them.

I tried to get a big Chuck to co-operate last night, no luck. The beans are pretty high now and it's tuff seeing their heads when they pop up for a look around.

I'll try a late planted field fri or sat. He's also got a small hay field, needs mowed though.

At the range today I got some nice groups with BLC2 and the 30's out of a Stevens, better than the 4198 loads. I'll cronie these things when I hook up with a friend, he has a chronograph. I'm figuring around 3800-3900 out of the 223. Not sure on the 22-250. I'm definetly gonna order a couple hundred more, not cheap but, I guess ya gootta pay for what works.

well I had 3 Chucks cooperate this evening. I used the 30's loaded in 223 with 24.5grs.CCI BR4 primers Guat brass,IMR 4198. I started testing loads at 23.0grs.

Shots where around 60 yds.guess, 127 lasered and 143 lasered. Really no need for a laser as it's point/shoot at this yardage.

All were bang flops. Very small entrance in all 3 and NO exits, no mess not even on the close 60 yd. shot. All were shot when they were standing and upper body shots, no head shots. Mouths still full of greens Big Grin They kinda reminded me of 17 Rem. kills where the bodies are like Jello. Not destructive like 40gr.VMax's I shoot alot of.

I'd believe this to be a good short range bullet for settled areas with concerns with ricochets, ATV riders and such as I have all 3 concerns here in N.E. Ohio. Excellent canidate for Blue Dot. And I'll be loading some up in the 221F.B. I have seen a load on the net 4000fps. in 221FB. wich I think is abit optimistic.

I'll bring the 22-250 next as I've already found the magic load for it.
