With a good supply of H870 on hand I use in my 240 Gibbs, I looked for something else to try it in.
I chose my 7 mag and 175 grn sierra's.
I had a Ruger 77 in 7 mag at one point. Very short throat, and sierra bullets had to be seated deep. The 7 I have now, is an old tombstone safety Rem 700, with the stainless barrel.
The throat and mag length lets me seat 175 sierra's to 3.450 OAL. With 76 grn of H870 I'm getting 3057 fps ave. I went to 79 grns with no problems, but only picked up a few fps, so why bother. Anyone else use it in the 7 mag?

I used it in my 7 mag for years. Prior to that I was using H570 and had good luck with both especially in the accuracy department.

I have the exact 7mm Remington with the so barrel that still shoots well. I have/had 5 brothers and all of us killed our 1st elk with that rifle.
I have passed it along to my nephew and hopefully it gets used like we used it. I think in those days the electroplated iron on the barrel for the blueing to stick, not sure but my old rifle was truly near a dull stainless when I handed it off. I have seen them in. 264 and .300 win mag with that same barrel over the years.
