Other than Mic's and Calipers. What do you all believe to be the best Neck turning system, and case measurement tools. Think I'm going to get the RCBS case master tool. Main concern is measuring for case head seperation on the magnum cases.
I don't like buying things twice, which seems usually happens. So thought I'd get some recomendations first.
Like when I bought the Redding Boss Press kit only to find out it doesn't have the large die bushing. They said it wasn't needed and was actually better without it, when I talked to them. But I notice "now" they offer the Big Boss kit with it.

I use a K&M and am very happy with it. Many of the BR shooters prefer the Hart, but them I even didn't consider, they don't offer a neck turner for the caliber I use it for. The Case Master is OK, but if you check out Sinclair's they will have something of higher quality, at a higher price.

As the other post states check with the Sinclair catalog...as for case head seperation...a sharpened paper clip or similar will allow you to check for pending seperation and that is just about what the RCBS tool has to use to check for that.....I have one of their tools and a sinclair case neck wall thickness gauge and concentricity gauge.....as for neck turning the Forster is nice for non benchrest type neck wall uniforming if you already have the case trimmer....the K&M mentioned is great and more precise for BR work.....for normal hunting type guns with factory chambers there is seldom a problem with case clearance and the chambers are already too large for the brass and turning makes it worse? if your gun is custom chambered then neck turning might help.....do a chamber cast with cerrosafe and go from there.....good luck and good shooting!!!

RCBS Case Master is a great tool to check your cases for a number of things. The Forester Outside neck turning tool works great for a turning tool, both to trim and ourside neck turning your cases. Thing with turning your case necks do it in two cuts and not just one big cut than you don't heat up your cases with one big cut which may end up with being to big a cut in the first place. Good Luck
In the Widner's catalog, I saw a collet bullet puller that fits standard press threads. This looks like a much better idea that a kenetic puller. Has anyone ever used one?

I use the RCBS collet type puller,its less messy than the kinetics,the powder stays in the case.I'v rarely ruined a bullet by using too much pressure.I use the 308 caliber collet for 308 down to 243,no sense in buying a bunch of collets if you can use one. Jeff

The K&M, Sinclair, Hart and the Neilson are good tools for turning necks. I use the K&M and the Sinclair for the first cut and then use either the Hart or Neilson for the final cut. I do tight necks for 22,6mm and 30 cal. The reason alot stay away from the Hart or Neilson is that they may never heard of them or the cost is alittle too high, the Neilson is $150 and the Hart alittle less. I mainly use my Mags for hunting so use new or once fired brass. I use Wilson or Neil Jones dies for the mags as with my other calibers. Well good Luck! Tom
