Anyone use W760 under a 300 grain Sierra BTSP in their 375 H&H? If so, how's the velocity and accuarcy? Is W760 temerature senstive? While I am at, I would like opinions on the .270 Caliber Sierra 140 grain BTSP? [ 10-28-2003, 00:15: Message edited by: DOCTOR LOU ]

I have used this load (I use the max load in Nosler book, can't remember it off hand)on Texas whitetail deer (eat right up to the hole). This load chronographs just under 2600 fps (23" barrel) in my rifle and will shoot 1" groups at 100 yards all day long. I usually shoot the 300 grain Swift A-frame for bigger game (2 bears and plains game in Africa). Craig Boddington has written about using the 300 grain Sierra on Cape Buffalo.

Wan't use a boat tail bullet on a game animal of any kind, I have had too many failures. I use 300gr. Hornady, or 300gr. Noslers for most of the loading in my .375 H&H. I also like the Swift A-Frame, but they are a little harder for me to find locally. Just the way I do it,,,,,

For Deer size game, that 140 SPBT works just great. It is not an Elk bullet.

DL, I am loading the 300 gr Hornady RN and have found it very good for pigs and grassy's. It would also be cheap for you to use being an American bullet, there only $10 or so cheaper than woodleigh's here. I use 78 gr of AR2209 (5 gr slower than IMR4350) win case & wlr primer. It is probably a mild load but I get good accuracy and mild recoil from this. Looks good in the .375 H&H case to

Dr Lou, Using the 300 Sierra Game King, with 79.0 grains of WW760, FC215 primer , WW cases, OCL of 3.610", I average about 2550 fps with an ES of maybe 20-25 fps at worse. Test gun a current M70 CRF with a 24" barrel. VERY accurate too. My last target shot was three shots at 100 yds to check zero and they went into .580". I have shot three or four bull elk with that load most at over 200 yds. Never had to track a bull. On maybe 50% of the recoverd bullets the core had squirted out. ALL of them expanded nicely from .70"-.90" in diameter. I could care less about the core seperations as all elk died very quickly. That is not a failure in my book. I like the accuracy, then again 300 partitions are just about as accurate. FN in MT
