Hornady LnL AP problem

I have loaded .223, .45 ACP, .44 magnum and special with no real issues on my LnL. I just got my .38 dies back from Hornady and went to load some tonight. After getting everything setup the press kept hanging on the last stage when it wants to eject the round. I was just running one case at a time so I know this is where it was hanging. For the life of me I can't figure out what is hanging though, but it just won't throw the round out I have to pull it out. I tried forcing it once and broke the left pawl, so I have an email in to get another one of those. Anyone had this issue with .38 before?

Thanks
Wes

1) Never force anything.
2) It is real easy to flick the round off the shell plate with your finger
3) The shell plate needs to be relieved to allow the case to be extracted. Hornady can tell you what to do or they may simply send you a replacement. Talk to them.

Which incarnation of the Lnl.

The earlier ones had a wire ejector which was notorious for this happeming especially in 9mm and 38. The bigger cases seemed to be free of this hangup.

Lots of tweaks available if you google it.

The newer Ezject version should not be a problem if everything is clean.

There is an upgrade kit available for the earlier LnL's.

This is a newer version of the LnL, no wire ejector. Everything is clean, I make sure to use the air compressor on it every so often while loading on it to keep loose powder out of the shell plate. Are the tweaks available just for the old system? I guess I will look around some and see.

First, never force a L&L, you will brake something ( I know this). 1: are sure you have right shell plate and 2: once it is on are you sure the spring shell keeper (not sure of proper name) is down in the groove at the ejection station? My l&l does .38's with out a hitch.
Just a thought.

It is shellplate #6. The spring is down in the groove, it is hanging on the ejection stub I believe now, but can't really test it until I get the new pawl in. After doing some googling (Thanks Ozzie) found a good number of posts about polishing the stub and the shellplate. I will do that this evening. Weird that I have never had this issue with the other calibers I listed.
