I recently purchased an M1A and am looking for a good match load for it. It is just a standard grade rifle, but it shot so well at the range the first time I had it out with just factory ammo I thought what the heck lets see what shell do with some decent handloads.

I got excellent results with 42 grains of IMR 4064 and Sierra 168-grain match bullets in GI Match brass, Federal 210 primers, in an M14. So it should do about the same in an M1A.

Try 44.0gr. Varget with Hornady's 168BTHPM. There was also an interesting article in the August '94 issue of 'Modern Gun' on how to do a cheap accurizing job on the M1-A. I tried it and the result was 5 shot groups into just over an inch at 100 yds. with this load. Good luck!

Sorry to jump into your topic here, but, I'm looking for some GI brass for the 7.62. I had a supply of LC-81's, but, they're getting long in the tooth. What GI brass are you using, and, where do you get it?

Thanx,

R-WEST
