Tell me what loads worked well when you loaded for a short barrel 375 H&H? Mine is a 21" Rem 700, I have RL-15, Varget, I 4895 and the 4350's. Did a particular bullet shine for you? Im trying to fast track load development thanks!

In my 21" barrel I use mostly IMR 4064 with 270 or 300 gr Hornady's. Remember, forgivness is easier to get than permission.

My short barreled 375 H&H Magnum. By short, that would be a 14 inch barrel including the brake. My load for 300 grain bullets. My load for 270 grain bullets.

It was declared by the holy ones of yesteryear that fast burning powders performed prodiges in short tubes and slow burning powder did not work well..They must not have had access to the chronograph back then, because that is not the case at all according to my chronographs. The old slow burners that held the velocity records did it in short tubes and in long tubes. I would suggest that the 375 performs well with a great many powders and it works best on big tough animals when slowed down a tad to start with. I like a 300 gr. bullet at 2400 to 2550 FPS depending on what I am hunting but and one is as good as the other in most cases.. I got max velocity with my 20 inch gun with RL-15, IMR-4831, 760 and a host of others in my old 20 inch tube. I got awsome accuracy with IMR 4064, and old standby for the .375 over the years..The results with the short gun were the same as with my present 24 inch rifle, hardly changed at all.
