Anybody have a good way to clean the inside of cases? My tumbler does a fine job on the outside, but there appears to be build up inside that is left behind after cleaning.

Stainless steal media is what I switched to several years ago, and I'm extremely satisfied with the results.

A sonic case cleaner did a good job on a few batches of cases I cleaned. Likewise it cleans out primer pockets well too. But I don't use the sonic cleaner much as I have no concerns with residues inside cases. Just used occasionally when not too busy with other reloading stuff.

I like the sonic cleaners, they do a good job on the inside and pretty quickly.

After a bath in the sonic cleaner, I'll rinse them in water and then run them through the turbo tumbler with untreated walnut shells for a while to give them a little shine.

as the media is inside of the case as well as outside, why wouldn't it clean the inside also?
I've never had a problem.

I think it does clean the inside somewhat, but not enough to make it shine. Besides, I think it's probably been proven that un-shiny loads shoot just as well as shiny.

Not something with which I am concerned. Except with Black Powder loads, then I use vinegar.

Sorry I've never lost any sleep worrying about the inside of my pistol cases not being clean and shiny.

I tumble and load it.

While the initial investment is a little higher, SS media does the best. I de-cap first and the pockets are clean also.

SS media requires a bit more finesse but when I was tumbling with walnut media I'd use rouge to shine them up, then tumbled in rice to remove the rouge. Plugged the flash holes on lots of cases too.

SS media does an amazing job.

I really wasn't that worried about the insides too much but it appeared that there was quite a bit of residue left after tumbling. Probably not a big deal but I thought as long as I was cleaning the outside I may as well get all of it clean. Thanks for the input. Where can I get some of the stainless media you talked about and will it work in a Thumbler Tumbler (I think that's how you spell it)?

sonic cleaner I bought at Harbor Freight Tools. Hot water, teaspoon of Limishine, and one drop of liquid dish soap. 3-4 480 second cycles and the cases are clean inside and out! Rinse cases, blot dry with a paper towel, place on a baking sheet in a 170 degree oven. In a few minutes your cases are dry. Convection ovens are even better.

Why wait hours or a day for cases to be cleaned?
You can go from dirty cases to clean and dry in under an hour.

I use stainless media in a Thumler's Tumbler Model B High Speed and love the results. One of the places from which you can get the media and the tumbler is: http://www.stainlesstumblingmedia.com/
There are multiple other sources on the Internet. Just look for the best deal.
I have found that the combination does a really good job cleaning the outside, inside and primer pockets of the cases. It does take a bit of effort draining, separating and drying the media and the cases, but the results seem well worth it. You do have to be sure you get all the stainless steel out of the cases before you proceed with the further steps in loading. I switched to the stainless and Thumler several years ago and have never looked back. I am not a fanatic about case cleaning and don't do it for each loading, but when I do use the combination, it looks great.
