Based on the glowing accuracy acheived with this cartridge and verified in the reloadingpages of this website, Idecided to have two rifles rebarreled in this chambering. They are 1/7 twist barrels and was wonderind what bullets and powders worked well for others. I am pwimarily interested in Sierras but if anyone has experience with Lapua's I would like to know.
Thanks,

Here in Scandinavia the MRP is the choice for most 6,5X55 shooters that look for high v/0 and good accuracy when it comes to bullets around 140 gr. The 204 and N-160 is also a good way to go, the MRP is the powder that gives top v/0 though.
The N-165 seemes not to give same good performance as the other powders I mentioned. It have never really become popular here in Scandinavia.
The Lapua Scenar match bullets in 6,5 will not let you down! They are exellent bullets and will give you good groups in your 6,5 rifle. Most 6,5X55 shooters here use 1-8" barrels for the 140 gr. bullets.

I hear a lot of recommedations for RL-22, so give it a shot. However, I get excellent accuracy with RL-19 behind 140 grain Barnes XLCs in mine. It was the first powder I seriously tried in my 6.5 (based on Barnes' data) and produced such great results that I stopped there. Maybe I should try RL-22...

47.0 grs h4831sc with win primer in win case &140 sierra went .8" out of a stock cz550fs. went to a fed 210 primer with a 140 gr hornady spire point and groups went to the .3's. 2600 fps from a 20.5" bbl all day long so my load work stopped there for this rifle. very easy on your shoulder and very deadly! hope this helps, vic

Yup, RL22 is great stuff in the Swede. I think that the longer burning powders are especially good in the long barrel surplus Swedes. They seem remarkably tolerant of powder type.
In my 29" milsurp, I also get very nice results with 44 grains of AA4350 and 140 grain Sierras. Picked up some closeout powder stock for $13.50 a pound, and this is my economy load.
Whatever you choose, this is one of the coolest cartridges ever designed. It amazes me that it never became tremendously popular.

That twist is good for heavy bullets, because it recall the original military twist. Nothing less 139grs. Try also with Amax 140 grs bullets they are very long. bye

I agree wholeheartedly with BigBore416. The match accuracy load I use with my 6.5 is 47.5 grains of H4831SC with either a 140-grain AMAX or 142-grain Sierra Matchking.
Big Bore's recommendatio was the winner. RL-22 didn't fare well but 47.gr of H4831 in my Savage 12 vss with a Clerke barrel shot at 1/2" at 200 yards today. I got 50 round down the tube so far and I used Lapua brass, Fed 210M primers and 140 Gr Sierra MKings. I plan to use this rifle and a &22 in 6.5X55 for F-class and bench Rest silhloutte. This cartridge is more user friendly than the 308 that I had beeen using. I went to a Savage switch barrel setup.
Thanks
